Samuel Scarfone of West Milford has been named to the Emerson College dean's list for the fall 2016 semester. Scarfone is majoring in media arts production. The requirement to make Emerson's dean's list is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Emerson College is located in Boston.

Tara Rogic of Hewitt was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Rogic was initiated at Fort Hays State University.

Rogic is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership.

Taylor Ryan of West Milford was among The University of Scranton students inducted into the national honor society in physical education (Phi Epsilon Kappa). For induction into the honor society, exercise science majors in their junior year should have achieved an overall minimum grade point average of 3.3, and a 3.5 average in exercise science courses. The honor society was founded in 1913. Ryan is a senior majoring in exercise science.

Jennifer Hall of Newfoundland earned the Berks County SHRM Award from the College of Professional Programs' Business Department, during the 2017 Honors Convocation.

Hall is studying human resource management and healthcare administration at Alvernia University in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Justin Lombardo of Hewitt was named to the dean's list at Montclair State University for the 2016 fall semester. In order to receive this honor, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher..

The following local Fairleigh Dickinson University students have been inducted into FDU's Phi Zeta Kappa and Phi Omega Epsilon honor societies for the fall 2016 semester:

Christopher McCormack of West Milford has been inducted into the Phi Zeta Kappa Honor Society. Eligibility for membership in the University's junior honor society is established by completing at least the first 60 credits toward an undergraduate degree with a CGPR of 3.20.

Michele Heerema of Hewitt has been inducted into the Phi Omega Epsilon Honor Society. Eligibility for membership in the University's senior honor society is established by completing at least 90 earned credits toward an undergraduate degree with a CGPR of 3.50.

Jordan Den Herder of West Milford was among The University of Scranton students inducted into the international honor society in economics (Omicron Delta Epsilon). The university's chapter of the honor society was established in 1969. Den Herder is a senior majoring in finance.

The State University of New York at Potsdam recognized more than 1,000 candidates for graduation during the college's 2017 commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 20. The graduates include:

Hunter Mangano of Hewitt, who received a bachelor of music degree in music education

Clifford West of Hewitt, who received a bachelor of science degree in community health

Daniella Rodas, a rising sophomore at University of Massachusetts Amherst, was named to the deans list in both the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters. Rodas is a hospitality major at the Isenberg School of Business as well as an Italian major. She was a 2016 graduate of West Milford High School.

Danielle Burns of West Milford, a graduate of West Milford Township High School, was named to the Lebanon Valley College Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. Dean's list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0. Danielle Burns is pursuing a bachelor of science in health science.

Kristen Marie Gadomski of West Milford has been named to the spring 2017 dean's list at Kutztown University. To be eligible for Dean's List, an undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum grade point average of 3.6.

Kathleen Christman of Hewitt has been named to the Mansfield University President's List for the spring 2017 semester. To be named to the president's list, a student must attend the university full-time and attain at least a 4.0 QPA for the semester.

Amy R. Trent of West Milford was among the more than 600 master's and doctoral degrees at The University of Scranton graduate commencement ceremony on May 27 in the Byron Recreation Complex. Trent earned a master of science degree in occupational therapy.

Connor R. Cassidy of Hewitt, a 2016 graduate of DePaul Catholic High School, has been named to the dean's list of Temple University for spring 2017.

In order to be eligible for the dean's list in spring of 2017, students in the Fox School of Business and Management had to achieve a semester grade point average of 3.62 or better. That threshold was determined by the top 16 percent of all students GPAs in the Fox School of Business and Management over the previous five years. Connor is a Temple Class of 2020 legal studies major.

Gina Laganella of Oak Ridge and Philip Akre of Hewitt were named to the dean's list at Quinnipiac University for the spring 2017 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C.
