The West Milford Chamber of Commerce presented $1,000 scholarships to Audrey Reid and Nicholas McCormick.

These two recent graduates received the chamber's scholarships, which originated in 1990 when it was initiated by the Wilbur Fredericks Trust, to help promote young entrepreneurs planning to pursue business courses in college. The Trust continues to support the chamber with a generous donation each year with the remaining monies gathered through chamber fund raising.

The chamber presented the awards at a dinner held in honor of the students and their parents at Momento Restaurant in West Milford with a special desert offered by West Milford Lakeland Bank. Each student gave a short speech summarizing their achievements and goals.

How they are chosenThe recipients are chosen based on a number of criteria, including the fact they are planning to pursue a career in business, grades, activities within and outside of school, volunteer work and scholastic accomplishments. The chamber looks for a well-rounded student.
