The County of Passaic is seeking Champion nominations and art submissions to recognize the accomplishments made by or for those with disabilities. The Champions of Disabilities Awards and Art Showcase was started in 2011 through a partnership between the Passaic County Freeholders and the Passaic County Advisory Council on Disability.

The 2017 Champions for Disabilities Awards Ceremony and Art Showcase will be on held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. in the Freeholder’s meeting room, 401 Grand Ave., Paterson. The Champions award ceremony will include recognition from the freeholders and a certificate from the county. The artists will be recognized through a digital slide show at the Champions of Disabilities Awards Ceremony and in the Artists Showcase brochure.

Artists with disabilities of any age are encouraged to participate.

The nominations for the Champions of Disabilities and submissions for the art showcase are now open. The criteria for the Champions of Disabilities Award is for Passaic County individuals and groups who were determined to have significantly advanced the cause of people with disabilities, whether by being a model of perseverance and determination for their peers or by creating programs and spearheading efforts that recognizes their potential. When nominating a person or group for the awards, the nominee’s contributions to county residents should be emphasized.

The nomination forms and submission forms are available on the county website at under county spotlight. For those interested in submitting multiple Champion nominations, use separate forms.
