Esther Hand of Vernon Township, Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017. She was 85.

She was born on July 14, 1932 in Wayne to the late Ruth (nee Sisco) and the late John Buenzli.

Esther married David Ashe and raised their six children in Saddle Brook.

Years after David’s passing, Esther married Paul Devens, and sometime following his passing Esther married Joseph Hand and resided until his passing in Vernon.

For many years she drove a school bus for the Township of West Milford. Esther was in the American Legion Womens Auxiliary of West Milford, NJ

She was predeceased by her beloved husbands David Ashe, Paul Devens, and Joseph Hand; her loving son Donald Ashe, her dear brother William Buenzli, and her loving son-in-law Richard Gregory.

Esther is survived by her dear children Dan Ashe of Matamoras, Pennsylvania; Charles Ashe and his wife, Maryanne, of Highland Lakes in Vernon; Dave Ashe and his wife, Delphine, of West Milford; Christine Gregory of West Milford; and Ruthann Ashe of Sparta; her cherished grandchildren Jade Ashe, Kimberly VanPamle and her husband Craig, Kathleen Ashe, and Kelly Babler and her husband Paul, Dave and Matthew Ashe, and Paul Roberts; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.

The family received visitors on Friday, Aug. 11, at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, Newfoundland. Interment followed at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, beside David Ashe.
