Even though it’s been almost nine years since Jessica Gelok’s tragic death, her memory remains strong, in large part because of the Jessica Gelok Foundation and its annual golf outings.

On Wednesday, Aug. 23, the Newfoundland-based nonprofit will host its 9th Annual Jessica Gelok Foundation Golf Outing at the Ballyowen Golf Club, located at 137 Wheatsworth Road in Hamburg. Registration and breakfast will begin at 8 a.m., with a shot-gun start following at 9:30 a.m.

For the past eight years, the Foundation’s annual golf outing has raised money for one of Gelok’s passions: child advocacy. All proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to Passaic County CASA for Children, a nonprofit organization that trains and supervises volunteers to “Speak Up for a Child” who removed from home due to abuse or neglect. According to the Jessica Gelok Foundation website, one of the foundation’s main goals is to “help keep the memory of Jessica Gelok alive while following in her footsteps focusing on programs that aid foster children in need.”

Passaic County CASA Executive Director Erica Fischer-Kaslander expressed gratitude for the foundation’s donations.

“We are so thankful for the Gelok family,” she said. “Through the foundation’s support, Passaic County CASA for Children can continue to serve the most vulnerable communities, just as Jessica would have wanted.”

The golf outing will include a one-hour instructional clinic, a free gift, complimentary range balls, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a two-hour open bar. There will also be a raffle and prizes for the following contests: hole-in-one, closest to the pin, longest drive, pot of gold, casino hole, beat the pro, and straightest drive.

Single golfers are $185; non golfers $85.
