West Milford cancels garbage collection due to coming storm

A snow storm is expected to begin in West Milford in the morning on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Precipitation is expected through the day and in the night.

As a result, the West Milford Office of Emergency Management has cancelled garbage and recycling collection for Wednesday, Feb. 7, has been cancelled due to the forecasted storm.

Wednesday’s garbage and recycling will be collected on Saturday, Feb. 10.

West Milford schoolsWest Milford High School club photos for the yearbook have been moved from Wednesday, Feb. 7 to Friday, Feb. 9. Senior Sibling photos will still be held on Thursday, Feb. 8.

At presstime, no decision had been made regarding schools delays or closures.

The West Milford School District procedures for school delays and closures are as follows:

The following is the procedure for a 90 minute (1 ½ hour) delayed opening or emergency closing of the West Milford Township Public Schools.

When possible, a decision will be made before 6 a.m. as to the opening of schools.

If a 90 minute (1 ½ hour) delayed opening or a school closing is called please note the following important information:

A "Honeywell Instant Alert" message will be sent out to inform parents of school delay/cancellation. You are encouraged to register for this service and keep it up-dated.

A siren will sound at 6 a.m. indicating a 90 minute (1 ½ hour) delayed opening of school is in progress.

If weather conditions do not improve and a closing of schools is called, steps 1 to 4 will be repeated and the sounding of a second siren at 8 a.m. will indicate schools will be closed.
