Maksim Pandorf of West Milford won first place in the bantam division, 70 pounds, and one of eight possible spots in the statewide competition. He earned the right to wrestle in the state tournament representing West Milford and Passaic County. There are hundreds of children who go to the tournaments. This is his first year competing and has wrestled in local novice tournaments through out the season. He entered in his first open tournament of the year at the Lakeland qualifier held at Lakeland High school in Wanaque on Sunday the Feb. 5. Before you can wrestle in the state competition (held in our state capital) you need to place in the top three in one of the eight qualifiers held through out the state.
