Highlanders football back on winning track with 27-10 victory over Fair Lawn

WEST MILFORD – The Highlanders football team got back on a winning track with a home victory over Fair Lawn 27-10 Friday night.

West Milford quarterback Zackary Milko ran in a touchdown in the first quarter to open the scoring.

Milko ran three times for 27 yards on the night, including the score.

Ryan Cole made his presence known, running the ball in from 28 yards in the second quarter and then taking in a 28-yard Milko pass for another score in the fourth period.

Brandon Peters also ran the ball in to complete the scoring for the Highlanders.

The best Fair Lawn could muster was a score in the first quarter and a safety in the second period.

The Highlanders combined passing and running attack totaled 274 yards, with 113 yards in the air.

In addition to Milko’s 27, Brandon Sanchez ran 10 times for a total of 42 yards and caught a 60-yard pass from Milko.

Cole ran four times for 70 yards and peters twice for 22 yards in the balanced running attack.

Milko also spread the ball around passing to four receivers on the night and going five of 13 attempts.

The win makes the Highlanders 4-3 on the season and drops Fair Lawn to 5-1.
